Thanks, puffman - this is what I've always known anyway, but it was good to see it in print and not just think I'm running around with bad information.

I just got that (what could be a stupid move) Tornado fuel saver. It turns out that it doesnt fit my truck for some reason. I really don't know if Im installing it wrong or they sent me the wrong one. Regardless, unless some of you out there have actually tried it and actually worked, Im returning it. Testimonials, testimonials pleasssseee before it goes in the mail with a note asking for a refund. Thepuffmann, please give me more specifics if you would on those xenon lamps. Went shopping but couldn't determine what I really needed as far as specs. To stay on message, I'm expecting my toneau cover any day now (UPS). I think that along with a K&N should help some.

I recently purchased a tornado thing, but haven't got it yet. I hope that maybe you're installing it wrong, or we'll both be asking for refund.

I am naturally suspicious of any device that is going to claim to give you better gas mileage just like that, because if it is cheap enough (it seems to me that the tornado is since it's basically a plastic fan that sits in the snorkel) the car makers would be putting them on the vehicle when they made it - they are always looking for any edge that can give them a mile or two better gas mileage so that they can meet overall vehicle mileage regulations. Poor mileage vehicles drag them down on the standards.

I installed a knockoff version of the tornado from ebay and it was a sinch to install. If yours is anything like the one I installed, then all you do is roll up the foil and place it in the snorkel. I have seen an increase in my gas mileage since putting it in. Don't know if that is due to the initial break-in period or the product. I put it in at about 3500 miles and now have 7200 miles. I can get over 400 miles per tank on a long trip now = almost 18 mpg. Not bad.

I tried installing it by disconnecting the hose to the air filter box and tried slipping it in there. I was under the assumption that that was the place. Am I wrong? It appeared to be too thick in diameter and wouldn't fit on either side (filter opening or the hose). I'm very skeptical but what the heck! I'll try it since I already have it. If I can figure out how to install it.

Also, has anyone experienced better gas milage by replacing stock filter with a K&N? Long time ago I had all that on a 5.0 GT (sooo much fun). But back then I wasn't concerned with gas milage rather more power. All those little things did help as far as power but not milage as I can remember.

I installed the K&N filter charger. I was reaching that 400
mile per tank mark regularly after the break in but since the
cold moved here in Minnesota I'm lucky to get 325-350 mpt(miles per
tank). I don't know if it's the cold or if it is the winter gas
we get here in in the northern planes...
