I wouldn't waste my time or money. I ordered the K&N intake kit and ended up sending it back. It was way too loud and my throttle response is a lot better with my stock air box. I guess they couldn't out-do Nissan this time.

I wouldn't use anything other than the stock air intake, but if you want, you can use a K&N element for it.  Just don't oil it up excessively or some may get to the intake air sensor or the mass airflow sensor which can create havoc with driveability.  I've been repairing cars for 35 years and I've seen these chopped up intake systems that turn out to be the main reason they are at my shop in many cases.

It was extremely loud in the cab. I can't imagine how loud it was outside while I was driving down the road. I do know the first time I punched it there were some kids playing basketball a good distance away and they all stopped and turned around  to see what the heck was going by. It was so loud it sounded like I didn't have an intake on there at all. I've had intake kits on two other vehicles, they gave them a cool sounding growl, but nothing as obnoxious as this one sounded.

But my biggest disappointmet was the throttle response. I might have been able to live with the noise if I hadn't lost my power range and torque. Instead of having power from any throttle position it went to on/off. There was absolutely nothing in between except for noise. I still wish it would have performed better because it sure did look cool.

I put on over 100,000 miles on my last truck 70,000 miles with the intake.  I never had any problems with the K&N intake.

I have over 11,000 miles on the Titan now with the K&N filter charger.  Yes, the charger is louder but mostly only at WOT (wide open throttle).  At idle and below 3,000 rpms there is no difference inside the cab from stock.  I actually tested it before and after, less than 10 dB.  The only way people know I have and intake system is by stamping on the gas.  And since I don't drive around hammering on the gas all day, it's not a big deal.

No loss in power or response here.  No dyno in the garage to test that (since that's the only way you'd ever notice the little difference an intake would make).  I'd say that's the worst part about it, you barely notice it's there.

Non-restrictive air flow is always a good thing, on the way in and out.  If you can't get the air in, putting on duals is just making noise.

Just my .02

I purchased it online.  Installed it myself as well.  Seriously, it was really easy.  The directions are very complete.

I ordered it from www.courtesyparts.com  Just click on the Titan 2004-2005 link.

They are a Nissan dealer in Texas.  I live in Minnesota and they had it here in a couple of days.

My only word of advice on installation.  Pay attention to the instructions when putting the air flow sensor in the new housing.  It must face the right direction.

I will say it was easy to install.

K&N did tell me there are rare cases where the truck doesn't like it, but didn't buy it. I've had two other cars with K&N filter chargers on them and I was extremly impressed the results, but I guess I had high expectations this time.
