Had my mind set on the Frontier, and think its a great truck but just for the heck of it decided to check out the Titan and take it for a test drive.  WOW!!!

I don't "need" the larger truck, but man, what can I say about the room.  Being 6'4, the extra room was a pleasant surprise. It was nice to finally "fit" in a vehicle.

The seat belt on the Frontier did sit a bit low, but with the Titan I could relaze.

Once again, I don't need a truck of this size, but it would come in handy and don't think I would get tired of the extra room.

Of course, these gas prices are on my mind.

So, who else tested both and encountered this type of dilemna?

Well I can say that both are awesome. I still have my 1998
Frontier which is the first year of the Frontier and I can say that it
is still a little monster, so I can imagine how the new 2005 is.

For Nissan Frontier info you can check over at the Nissan Frontier
Forums also which is an Affliate of the Nissan Titan Forums. There
is some good info along with specs and member pics so you can
compare and get a good idea of the Frontier as compared to the
Titan.

I actually looked at both.  I really wanted either a CC Tacoma or Frontier but my wife insisted I'd regret not having a full size to haul my motorcycles around in.  I like my Titan kc but with the price of gas being what it is I would have been just as happy with a more practical CC midsize.

When I took my Titan in for service last week, they gave me an '04 Exterra.  BLECH!  I'm sorry....but that thing is a   Lots of road noise, ride quality is crappy, and the seats hurt my

I stopped in the dealership to do a test ride with a mechanic and told my service writer she had to put me into something else.  She said she had an '05 Frontier extended cab and felt I'd be happier with it.  Driven that thing for two days now and I must say that it's a damn nice mid-size truck.  The ride is firm, but not obnoxious, it's quiet, the controls are nice, and I really love the support & texture of the cloth seats.  Personally, I think it kicks the Chevy Colorado and Dodge Dakota's ass.  Can't say how it compares to the Toyota, but if I were in the market for a mid-size, the new Frontier would be at the top of my list.

Nice job Nissan!

Tom

I'm not sure the Gas Mileage is that big a difference.

I was set on a 05 Frontier too but when I did a comparison on MPG the frontier only faired just a few miles more per gallon......I picked the Titan hands down.  Plus they weren't dealing on the 05 Frontiers like the left over 04's I actually paid less than a fully load Frontier CC.

I traded a 2003 Supercharged Frontier in on my new Titan.  I liked the Frontier, don't get me wrong.  But if you're considering gas prices into your purchase, both vehicles stink.  I don't care what comparisons you read, I was lucky to be getting 15 miles per gallon out of my Fronty.  Not only that, the supercharged engine required 91 octane or better.  Not only THAT, the range on the Fronty was horrible.  I don't know if Nissan addressed the issue, but a 19 gallon tank on a Fronty is all wrong.  I NEVER got near 300 miles on a tank full.  One time I ran out of gas at 273 miles.  I refused to believe the gas guage was correct and sure enough, it was.

The amenities of the Titan are more than worth the extra money you'll be paying.  And I honestly believe you'll spend less money on gas with a Titan.
