its supposed to do this, Nissan was one of the few companies that actually sends updated data to that gauge, whereas all other companies leave it fixed unless there's a problem.

Well the gauge does respond well. What is too high is relitive.

Cold oil will give higher readings

Higher RPM - same

Thicker oil - same

At operating temp my gauge reads a bit over 1/2 at idle and maybe 3/4 at revs.

I used Havoline 5W30 during break in and Castrol syntec 0W-30 now. Strangely, the 0W30 gives slightly HIGHER pressure than the 5W30 did. Some 30W oils are thicker than others at operating temps.

High pressure isn't necessarly a problem but did you change the oil weight or filter -? or was it always reading like that.

I'm having the same problem with my 04' titan. Didnt start until after my first oil change. My oil preasure gauge always pegs out at high when I start it up in the morning even on warm days. And it takes a good 10-15 mins for the preasure to level out. And even then when i drive it, when i hit the gass it preasure goes up and it feels like its dragging and not shifting properly. I took it in to the dealer to get checked out and they told me it was normal. Is anyone else having this problem. Just wondering if this is normal and th 04' just drive like crap.

Well cruzr1_jr I dont think that your engine oil has anything to do with shifting, if your having a problem with shifting then it is probably occuring in the x-msn. But what your saying about the oil guage sounds pretty normal I have always owned fullsize trucks and thats what I have always experianced with the oil guage. However if the guage is pegging out at max then I would get it checked. But upon start up is should be high and then level out as the engine warms and of course if you are rev'ing high or racing then it should be high as well, but not maxed out.
