I ran into the same situtation and had to splice into one of the tag lights to get my trailer running lights to work. I cut the wire from the connecter(the factory installed one under the bumper) and spliced it into the tag light wire. I soldered the connection, put liquid tape over it and stuffed it back into the casing. It works fine. Pretty discouraging for a new truck-I feel your pain.

The reason you cant get power on those wires is that you have to install a relay in the fuse box under the hood.

If you have the tow package you can just get a 7 to 4 adapter and not splice a thing.

On my truck and been there's truck there is no power getting to running light terminal.  The turn signals/brakes  terminal is wired correctly and works fine. And why would a missing relay under the hood let the turn signals work but not the running lights. They f____d up the wiring at the factory on some of the xe's.

The relay is for the wiring for the trailer running lights.

There are two relays that aren't installed if you don't have the Big Tow package. One is for the trailor running lights and the other is to power a trailer brake system.

If you open the small box in front of the main fuse box you'll see the fuses for the lites and brakes but if you look at the cover you'll see where the relays go.

checked the relays, i have 1 that says tow2 on it. do you mean i need to install another relay just for the running lights? i did get the adpater and wiring from the dealer and they never mentioned that i would need seperate relay just for the running lights. maybe they just like me to come in and visit!!!!! happy holidays to all.
