when using tow mode with a column shifter on manual , do you guys have to push tow mode first then push the manual shifter button? it wont let me turn on tow mode after i push manual shift mode.

i read on other forums where people were saying that they couldnt even use tow mode during manual shift mode but it works on my truck if i turn in on first then switch to manual shift mode

I have the exact same behavior on mine (SE, 4X4, OFFROAD/BIG TOW, 04-2004). Figured that I can live with it, just put in tow-mode before shifting to D and then when I go into manual shifting the tow mode light stays on.

My understanding is that TOW MODE changes the shift points (allows the engine to rev higher before it shifts) therefore if you are shifting manually TOW MODE doesn't apply (you shift at the rpm that you choose).
